- Learning Goals: the main goal of the class is to introduce students to modern macroeconomics: the study of macroeconomic phenomena with aggregate microfounded equilibrium models that are often dynamic. The focus of the course is on models and techniques and not so much on data (although we will be talking about macroeconomic data often). You should view it analogously to a “language” course: the goal is to help you understand how academic macroeconomists talk, write, and make policy recommendations. Effectively, to start “speaking Macro”.
- Course Modules: Introduction to Macro Models; The Overlapping Generations Model; The Neoclassical Growth Model; Endogenous Growth; Stochastic Growth; Consumption and Asset Pricing; Search and Unemployment
