Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

This course surveys major topics in the field of Industrial Organization and focuses mainly upon the theory of the firm and the industry, with an emphasis on oligopoly theory. While the course gives a particular emphasis on oligopolies, there will be occasional consideration of competitive and monopolistic markets. The latter market structures may be useful as benchmarks against which to compare the predicted outcome of oligopoly markets. The course is devoted to the analysis of the strategic interactions among firms, the price and non-price strategies individual firms can use to increase profit such as price discrimination and tying and bundling, the use of market power by firms, and the role of competition policy.
