Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

This course is designed to introduce students to the basic principles of Cost-Benefit Analysis. It provides the opportunity to enhance both analytical and quantitative skills required for effective Cost-Benefit Analysis of various public and private projects.  Although it will give you enough theory to understand the financial and economic processes involved in such an appraisal, but the emphasis is on practice, with some critique of the methods involved.

Topics covered

Introduction. Ex Ante and Ex Post CBA. The basic steps of CBA. The basics of discounting. Net present value and internal rate of return. Mutually exclusive investment projects . Public goods. Valuing benefits and cost. Shadow prices.  Social discount rate. Risk and uncertainty. Sensitivity analysis. Non-market valuation of goods and services. Case studies-problem solving.
