Περιγραφή Μαθήματος
Making interactive digital applications is a creative and technical art form. This graduate level course introduces the students simple tools and practices for effectively designing, development and publishing immersive virtual applications and provides the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of digital image synthesis, interactive multimedia design, and computer game mechanisms. The aim of this course is to learn students design and create an interactive, authentic, and complex experience from scratch by getting familiar with industry-standard game development tools, such as the Unity3D game engine.

Course Objectives/Goals
The course aims to introduce:
- Basic theoretical concepts of the digital image synthesis, interactive multimedia, and computer game design mechanisms.
- Simple tools and procedures for effectively designing, development and publishing interactive digital applications via Unity game engine.
By the end of the course student will be able to:
- Import and manage different types of multimedia content.
- Reuse or develop C# scripts to control and interact with the digital environment.
- Design and build an interactive (virtual/augmented) experience from scratch.
- Create presentation material for general public audience.
Assessment Methods
The course includes the design, development and presentation of an Unity project (which is going to be an interactive, immersive, multimedia application), which accounts for the 10/10 of the total course grade. The project is mandatory. At the end of the semester there is a oral examination test for the students whose project scores 5+ points in order to certificate their knowledge of using Unity for prototyping digital experiences. There will be no final writing exam.
