Microeconomics

(IBT102) -  ΠΑΝΤΕΛΗΣ ΚΑΜΜΑΣ

Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

Microeconomics introduces students to the world of markets and economic decision-making. It examines how consumers and firms make choices, how prices are determined, and why some markets operate efficiently while others do not. Through analytical tools, theoretical models, classroom experiments, simulations, and real-world examples, the course examines the “economic logic” that shapes everyday life. The goal is not only to provide students with solid knowledge but also to cultivate a more critical way of thinking about how the world functions. The course begins by outlining how consumers and firms make decisions within the marketplace. It explores the functioning of markets, focusing on competition, pricing, and efficiency, followed by an analysis of government intervention and its effects. Students also study market power, strategic interactions among competing firms, and the different growth strategies businesses adopt. By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze markets, assess the effectiveness of different economic policies, and gain deeper insight into the role of incentives in decision-making.
