In this course, we will explore the special world of categorical data and related methods of analysis of such data.

In order to ensure a minimum common background for all, we will start by introducing the basics of descriptive statistics focusing on categorical data, and main probability notions. Next, we will get acquainted with the basic discrete distributions (like Binomial, Poisson, Chi-square, etc), then proceeding with contingency tables, where we will also talk about relative risk and odds ratio. Inference for categorical data will include methods such as the Chi-square test, Fisher test, McNemar test, etc. We will smoothly touch on generalised linear models (GLM), mainly logistic regression and Poisson regression. 

All the above will also be supported via hands on experience using the R statistical software.
