Aim & Objective


The course aims to introduce students to the concepts of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Net Zero. Through a multifaceted approach the course will outline the pressing issues for the transition to sustainability and delve into the salience of policy initiatives at the national and international level. Emphasis will be placed in the role of technology and innovation and the factors which stimulate them. The students will critically evaluate trade-offs and synergies of economic, social, and environmental policies in the quest of promoting economic growth, climate neutrality and just transition towards 2050. 

 

Learning Outcomes include:

 

 (1) Stocktaking of key Issues in Sustainable Development and Climate Change 

(2) Understanding the role of Innovation and Green Technology

(3) Assessing Policy Initiatives at the EU level

(4) Familiarizing with the “leaving no one behind principle” and the tenets of Just Transition

 (5) Evaluating the Sustainability Performance of Economic and Social Pillars: Industry, Governance and Civil Society

 (6) Understanding the complexity underpinning Climate Finance at the corporate, national and international level
