Course

The course aims to introduce students to the science of Sociology and, specifically to acquaint them with basic concepts, analytical tools and research methods. The presentation of classic and modern sociological theories and perspectives, fundamental sociological concepts (social structure, action, organization, social reproduction/transformation, social facts, social interaction, culture, stratification and social class, social inequalities etc), and of quantitative and qualitative research methods purports to equip students with proper knowledge and analytical skills that will enable them to approach, analyze, understand and interpret critically the social, cultural, economic, political processes and dimensions of our contemporary -complex, globalized, and rapidly changing- social world(s).
